RAD · Range Awareness Display

See the Distance to Every Vessel

RAD turns a 360° camera feed into spatial awareness. See the distance to every vessel, obstacle, dock wall and channel marker in real time, in every direction at once.

  • Included with both camera systems
  • Free upgrade for existing installations
What Is RAD

Spatial Awareness, In Every Direction

RAD, Range Awareness Display, is a software feature built into the Panoblu system. It overlays real-time distance measurements across the full 360° live panorama, calculating range to everything in frame at once. There is no manual targeting and nothing to point: the moment something appears, its distance appears with it.

It runs on both Panoblu camera systems. On Thermal IR it works through night, fog and low visibility. On Seaview it works in full daylight colour. Distance data is recorded alongside every frame of the voyage record automatically, so range is there to review long after the moment has passed. RAD is available as a free software upgrade for every existing Panoblu installation.

Detection Range · Day & Night

See it first, in every direction.

From a tanker on the horizon to a swimmer alongside, Panoblu Thermal IR sees the full 360° panorama at once, continuously, with nothing to pan or aim. Then RAD puts a live distance on every target.

How It Works

Capture. Calculate. Display.

01

Capture

The 360° camera captures the full panorama continuously, all bearings at once, with nothing left to point or pan.

02

Calculate

RAD software processes the image and calculates the distance to everything in frame, updating in real time.

03

Overlay & Record

The range overlay appears live on screen and is saved automatically with the recording, frame by frame.

Where It Matters

RAD in the Real World

Continuous range awareness removes the guesswork at the moments where a wrong estimate costs the most.

Berthing & Manoeuvring

Close-quarters distance awareness in tight marinas, reversing into a berth, working with bow thrusters. RAD removes the guesswork at the moments where error is most costly.

Night Watch

Anchor watch and traffic monitoring in darkness. Combined with the Thermal IR camera, RAD gives the watch crew precise range to any vessel approaching in the dark.

Man Overboard & Safety

If someone goes overboard, RAD provides an immediate distance reference to their position in the water, critical for a fast, accurate recovery.

Security Monitoring

Perimeter awareness at anchor. RAD shows exactly how far away an approaching vessel is, continuously, without anyone needing to look.
