What Is RAD

Spatial Awareness, In Every Direction

RAD, Range Awareness Display, is a software feature built into the Panoblu system. It overlays real-time distance measurements across the full 360° live panorama, calculating range to everything in frame at once. There is no manual targeting and nothing to point: the moment something appears, its distance appears with it.

It runs on both Panoblu camera systems. On Thermal IR it works through night, fog and low visibility. On Seaview it works in full daylight colour. Distance data is recorded alongside every frame of the voyage record automatically, so range is there to review long after the moment has passed. RAD is available as a free software upgrade for every existing Panoblu installation.

Where radar plots position and AIS identifies transmitting vessels, Panoblu RAD overlays live distance measurements directly onto the visual panorama, adding a layer of range context that neither system provides.
